Sankara Eye Hospital, Coimbatore, a 500-bed state-of-the-art specialty eye hospital, is the headquarters of Sankara Eye Foundation, India. It was established as the Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Medical Trust in 1977, by ophthalmologists Dr. R.V. Ramani and Dr. Radha Ramani, with the mission of eliminating preventable blindness in India.

In the past four decades, the Sankara Eye Foundation has grown from a single hospital at Coimbatore to a network of hospitals across multiple states, each providing superlative eye care to underserved people across towns and villages of India.
With a mission to eliminate preventable blindness in India, Sankara Eye Hospital, Coimbatore, has screened over 2,045,044 patients, conducted 11,248 eye camps, and performed 788,990 free eye surgeries.
